This morning, one guy came to me and asked: Who the hell is Kowalski ?
I answered: Well, Kowalski is four guys, and wooden instruments. Folk, you know, but different. /// These guys, they write songs in their room, like many before them, looking for a prayer never told, images from the deep attic of humanity. They do it seriously, they try hard. Because it’s important. There is a record out now, you should listen to it /// Kowalski is a space, rather dark, an inner space where there are voices invited. It’s a guest house in fact. With people you know -yes you already met them!- they are parts of you. Cause we’re made of people, INSIDE. It’s crowded. Unsatisfied or simple voices, they all gather near the bonfire. /// Kowalski’s songs, they’re made of characters, a bunch of lonesome and very quarrelsome heroes, smoking along the ancient road. /// All looking for a heart /// Kowalski is a tortured land, ‘cause hey, we need to feel the pain sometimes, a right way to be alive, to “feel” life /// But the songs are also soft, with tenderness inside. Pleines de fêlures. Those songs, they dressed for you.
I ended in that words :
And bare bone music is closest to beauty. Ageless music, related to some secret place where lies the essential. I dig it.
